Popular Dragon Age game now playable on Steam Deck

BioWare’s acclaimed 2014 RPG Dragon Age: Inquisition has received a notable Steam Deck compatibility upgrade. The game has moved from Steam’s "Unsupported" classification to "Playable," following a fix for a longstanding controller problem that previously prevented the standard version of Proton from properly recognizing controllers. The change means players can now run the RPG on Valve’s handheld without relying on a community-made Proton solution.
However, "Playable" does not mean the experience is flawless. Steam Deck HQ highlights several remaining limitations, including small in-game text, occasional incorrect controller prompts and situations where players may need to manually summon the virtual keyboard. The game also remains short of the more stringent "Verified" designation.
Nevertheless, the compatibility improvement gives Steam Deck owners easier access to one of BioWare’s better-received RPGs. Dragon Age: Inquisition has an aggregate rating of 92% from OpenCritic, with reviewers generally praising its characters, story and world, while others criticize aspects of its combat and repetitive encounters. The game is currently listed at $9.99 on Steam, a 75% discount from its usual $39.99 price, making the newly improved compatibility particularly appealing to handheld RPG fans.
