Update July 26: It has been speculated that the Redmi K50 could end up having a global release possibly as the POCO F4.
Original story:
Some specifications for the Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro have been shared on Chinese social media, although as the smartphones aren’t expected to be released until the next Spring Festival (February 2022) then a pinch of salt is required at this early stage. However, it wasn’t that long ago Xiaomi executive Lu Weibing was asking followers what they wanted from the Redmi K50 series, so clearly development is under way.
Known leaker “Bald Panda” has stated that the Redmi K50 lineup, which could consist of three phones in the forms of the Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro, and Redmi K50 Pro+, will utilize the Snapdragon 895 processor and will be capable of up to 67 W fast charging. Fellow tipster Digital Chat Station claims the Redmi K50 lineup will have E5 “luminescent material” from Samsung with a 2K/120 Hz display.
There is some argument about the front-facing camera setup, with some claiming that there will be a centered punch-hole for the improved lens while others insist there will be an under-display camera (less likely). As for design, many sources on Weibo have stated that the Redmi K50 looks very much like the upcoming Huawei P50, which probably mostly refers to the latter’s double-barreled main camera system that is housed in an oval-shaped bump on the rear. The Redmi K40 series used a more rectangular housing design in this case.
