New Fitbit Air screenless wearable launching soon

The name of a new Google wearable has leaked: the Fitbit Air. This possible competitor for the Whoop 5.0 (curr. $359 at Amazon) was first spotted in a teaser video featuring basketball player Stephen Curry.
Now, a report by 9to5Google indicates that this new Google wearable will be called the Fitbit Air. While the media outlet does not name its source for this information, it states that this information has come from “sources familiar with the matter”. The name ‘Air’ could be linked to a lightweight design; as seen in the Stephen Curry video, the screenless wearable appears to have a slim strap.
A second report from Droid Life states that product listings have been found at a retailer. The unnamed company has listed multiple strap types and colors. This retailer indicates an RRP of around $99 and a release date of May 16th. The strap/colorways as follows:
- Fitbit Air - Performance Loop Band - Obsidian, Fog, Lavender, Berry
- Fitbit Air - Active Band (Small, Large) - Obsidian, Fog, Lavender, Berry
- Fitbit Air - Elevated SoftFlex Band - Obsidian, Moonstone, Porcelain
- Fitbit Air - Metal Mesh Band - Silver, Warm Gold
These leaks also provide more information about the subscriptions for the Google Fitbit Air. Earlier rumors indicated that some basic features would be available to all users free of charge, with AI-related tools reserved for subscribers. It has been suggested that Google is planning to rebrand its Fitbit Premium subscription as the Google Health subscription. This is expected to include the Fitbit Personal Health Coach, though this could be renamed as Google Health Coach.
As a reminder, images of the Google Fitbit Air have shown a predominantly light gray band with an orange edge. The wearable is expected to have a range of sensors for health metrics like heart rate and SpO2, as well as an accelerometer for fitness tracking.
