Dell has just announced Panther Lake versions of the XPS 14 and the XPS 16. The pair may represent the return of the XPS series after a generation away. However, two former stars remain absent. While a new XPS 17 is not forthcoming, Dell has teased the return of the XPS 13.
Previously, the XPS 13 was a staple of the XPS lineup. Such was the laptop's apparent popularity that Dell launched Qualcomm Snapdragon and Intel Lunar Lake (curr. $1,079.99 on Amazon) variants in 2024 within a few months of each other. Despite this, Dell has confirmed that the XPS 13 is not returning immediately.
Instead, the company has decided to hold fire until 'later this year'. In the meantime, Dell has shared a few details about the next XPS 13, which it claims will represent its 'most accessible XPS price yet'. Not only that, but the company expects the same laptop to be the 'thinnest and lightest XPS laptop ever'.
Undoubtedly, the next XPS represents a direct competitor to the MacBook Air 13, which should be receiving an Apple M5-related refresh in the spring. From the photos shared so far, the XPS 13 will look more like a MacBook Air than ever before too, albeit without Apple's infamous notch. Thankfully, Dell is returning to physical function-row keys, although port selection appears to be rather limited.
