Casio is launching the G-Shock G-Lide GBX-100S-1 and GBX-100S-2 watches in Europe. These GBX-100 series watches have already been released in Japan, following a series of rumors earlier this year.
Now, the Casio G-Shock G-Lide GBX-100S-1 and GBX-100S-2 watches can be found on the brand’s websites in the Netherlands, Spain and Germany, where they are priced at €169 each. This makes them slightly cheaper than the older GBX-100NS-1, which costs €179.
The Casio G-Shock GBX-100S-1 and GBX-100S-2 watches are designed for extreme sports, with a range of dedicated surfing features. These include tide graphs, tide times, tide levels, moon phases and sunrise/sunset times. Thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, you can link the watch to your smartphone and select your surfing location from around 3,300 spots in the Casio Watches app.
Users of these GBX-100S watches can also track training exercises like running, with metrics like speed, pace and calorie burn; they are also compatible with Strava. Other features include support for world time, a 1-second stopwatch, a countdown timer and four alarms with a snooze function. A white LED backlight ensures you can read the digital display in low lighting, and the energy saving feature helps to preserve the two-year battery life.
While they both have a skeleton (transparent) resin casing and a stainless steel bezel around the memory-in-pixel (MIP) LCD display, the GBX-100S-1 has a black resin strap, while the GBX-100S-2 has a dark blue resin band. They measure 50.9 x 46.0 x 14.7 mm (~2.0 x 1.8 x 0.6 inches) and weigh 66 g (~0.15 lbs). It is unclear whether the Casio GBX-100S-1 and GBX-100S-2 watches will also launch in the US, where older GBX-100 Series wearables like the GBX100-2A are already available.
