A new report from Great G-Shock World has officially confirmed that two long-rumored full-metal Casio G-Shocks, the GMW-B5000D-1CJF and the GM-B2100SD-1CJF, are set to launch in Japan this June. Both models will be priced at ¥84,700 (roughly $550), and early chatter suggests these are already drawing a fair amount of interest from longtime G-Shock collectors and newer fans alike. Full-metal models tend to have this effect. It's worth noting that the pricing and release for GM-B2100SD-1CJF were already revealed via Great G-Shock World.
The GMW-B5000D-1CJF is a familiar sight - visually near-identical to the standard GMW-B5000D-1 (curr. $465 on Amazon), but the new model number and quiet rollout point towards small production changes or regional targeting. The watch keeps the iconic square case design with a mirror-finished bezel, red dial border, and screw-back case. It supports Tough Solar charging, Multi-Band 6 time syncing, Bluetooth connectivity, and the usual suite of features like a world time display and auto-backlight.
The GM-B2100SD-1CJF follows a similar philosophy but in the 2100 series’ octagonal form. It pairs a full silver steel case and bracelet with a black dial, red accents, and positive LCD. Again, the feature set mirrors earlier GM-B2100 full-metal models: solar charging, Bluetooth smartphone sync, dual time, stopwatch, and calendar functions.
Both models are being promoted as full-metal "return-to-origins" designs, since they clearly take cues from classic G-Shock motifs while using modern materials. According to the blog report, the new model numbers suggest that these might either be minor revisions or Japan-specific variants aimed at tightening up domestic supply. There’s also speculation that these could be short-production runs, so early availability might be limited. In that case, you can expect to pay a higher-than-usual amount for these timepieces if you're looking to get your hands on one.
