Reviews for the Motorola Moto G86
The Motorola Moto G86 is the current flagship of Motorola's G series in Europe. Compared to its predecessor, it's considerably more robust, boasts additional cameras, and also has a significantly upgraded screen, which is brighter than ever before.

In the crowded budget market, the Moto G86 makes a convincing impression. Its bright display and durable body give it an edge when it comes to build quality, and it performs well enough while toeing the line pretty close to stock Android. That said, phones like the CMF Phone 2 Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy A15 5G deliver similar performance with faster charging or longer software support. Moreover, while the 5,200 mAh battery will comfortably last a day, it doesn’t match the longevity of its near-identical sibling, the Moto G86 Power, which only costs £20 more at RRP. If you find the G86 for under £250, it’s a solid, dependable buy that does most things well without major compromise. But at its retail price of £280, it sits in a no-man’s-land: competent, yes, but not exceptional, and most customers will find it hard not to feel that the standard G86 has been overshadowed before it even gets going.

The G86 proves that you can find a budget-friendly phone that balances performance, durability and image quality and punches above its price range. While the 8MP ultra-wide camera shows its limitations in low light, the added Macro Vision feature works well and adds to its overall value. The main 50MP sensor with OIS delivers dependable results in most scenarios. If you are after a dedicated telephoto, this isn’t the device for you. But for £249, the Moto G86 offers excellent value and more than enough versatility for casual shooters. If you’ll only view the images on a phone screen and use them to share on social media, you get satisfying quality. Anyone who wants a tough, stylish phone that won’t break the bank, the G86 is a solid choice.

Considering the price of the Motorola G86 5G and its competitors in this category, we can say that the smartphone turned out to be extremely successful. It offers a wonderful bright screen, an interesting design, a high level of body protection, good performance, a convenient laconic interface and quite adequate camera quality. In this price category, it is difficult to demand more, but I would still like to have a telephoto camera and better video quality.

The Motorola Moto G86 5G represents another strong value proposition from the series. There’s nothing radically different in this year’s model, but the boost in performance and the gorgeous P-OLED panel make it a sublime entertainment device for the price. And with the wonderful array of textured back panels and smooth included cases, it’s sure to look damn fine doing it, too. Gaming performance could always be better, but it’s an everyman phone that covers the core bases as well as it needs to. If you’re looking for more horsepower, the Poco F7 can double its theoretical performance at the cost of 33% more of your cash. You’ll take a hit in the camera department, too. Want to shop around? This smartphone positions itself strongly in the lower-midrange segment. It’s no longer a budget device, but it isn’t a true mid-tier phone either. In this category, it offers an unusually high-quality display, solid performance, well-integrated design, decent battery life, and satisfactory cameras. The main shortcoming is the single antenna for data transmission, but considering how strong everything else is, the Moto G86 comes highly recommended.
