tNew specifications for the successor to the Moto G84 5G (curr. $229.99 on Amazon) have leaked, only a few days after product images of the same device surfaced online. For reference, a prior leak implied that Motorola had equipped the Moto G85 with an unreleased Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. According to the typically reliable @MysteryLupin, this is actually the case.
However, it is not the Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 that had been assumed previously. Instead, @MysteryLupin believes that Motorola intends to replace the Snapdragon 695 5G powering the Moto G84 5G with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, adding that the chipset possesses an Adreno 619 GPU found in the Snapdragon 695 5G and eight CPU cores clocked at 2.3 GHz.
Additionally, the leaker believes that Motorola will complement the new chipset with 8 GB of RAM, a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 33 W wired charging and 256 GB of likely expandable storage. Moreover, the Moto G85 5G will sport a 6.67-inch pOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 1080p resolution, all within a housing that weighs 173 g. Furthermore, the same leaker suggests that Motorola will include an upgraded camera system.
Specifically, @MysteryLupin alleges that the Moto G85 5G will centre on a 50 MP primary camera like its predecessor, albeit with a wider f/1.79 aperture. On top of that, the Moto G85 is said to contain a 32 MP front-facing camera, twice the resolution of its predecessor's equivalent, plus a 9 MP ultra-wide-angle camera that doubles as a macro lens. Considering 9 MP would be an unusual output resolution, we suspect that it may have been a typo for 8 MP instead. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when Motorola will officially introduce the Moto G85 5G at this stage, let alone for how much.
