The Raider Max 16 HX is one of MSI's most powerful gaming laptops released to date. As we covered yesterday, the Raider Max 16 HX surpasses the Raider 16 HX AI A2XW with a much higher power limit that even surpasses the larger Raider 18 HX AI A2XW (curr. $2,387 on Amazon). At the same time, the company has confirmed that it has developed two potentially more affordable 16-inch Raider gaming laptops for 2026, too.
While not yet listed on MSI's website, the Raider 16 HX B2W retains the overall design and hardware of its Max sibling but without the optional GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU. Instead, the Raider 16 HX B2W will be available with up to a GeForce RTX 5080, as well as Intel Core Ultra 200HX processors, a 90 Wh battery and 2.5K IPS or OLED displays that deliver 240 Hz refresh rates with 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage.
Meanwhile, the Raider A16 HX B9W is MSI's AMD alternative to both the Raider 16 HX B2W and Raider Max 16 HX. Retaining the same 363 x 269.7 x 21.95~28.85 mm dimensions and 2.6 kg weight as its Intel counterparts, the Raider A16 HX B9W will be configurable with up to a GeForce RTX 5090 and a Ryzen 9 9955HX, which trades blows with the Core Ultra 9 285HX in our benchmarks.
However, MSI will restrict the Raider A16 HX B9W to an IPS display with no OLED alternative. Pricing and availability for the Raider 16 HX B2W and Raider A16 HX B9W remain unknown for now, though. Likewise, MSI has not shared pictures of the Raider A16 HX B9W yet.
