Gamescom 2024 | MSI MPG 491CQPX: Release date and launch pricing confirmed for new 240 Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor
A few days have passed since MSI revealed the MPG 491CQPX, a 49-inch monitor that could be mistaken for the MPG 491CQP (curr. $899.99 on Amazon) at first glance. To recap, the company reported that the MPG 491CQPX contains a QD-OLED panel that resolves at 5,120 x 1,440 pixels with a 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms GtG response times.
Additionally, the wide monitor boasts an 1800R curvature, plus VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and ClearMR 1300 certifications. Moreover, MSI claims that the MPG 491CQPX also contains a custom heatsink that disperses heat silently and its OLED Care 2.0 software that is designed to mitigate OLED burn-in. For reference, MSI has equipped the monitor with the following ports too:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4a
- 2x HDMI 2.1
- 2x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-B
- 1x USB Type-C (98 W Power Delivery/DisplayPort Alt Mode)
While the company is not ready to release the MPG 491CQPX just yet, it has now confirmed early pricing and availability. Specifically, the monitor is said to be landing in the US on October 10 for $1,199. By contrast, TFTCentral states that it was informed by MSI at Gamescom 2024 that the MPG 491CQPX will reach Europe sometime in Q4 2024 with a €1,499 MSRP.
