Until recently, it has been possible to purchase various 27-inch OLED gaming monitors with 360 Hz refresh rates. However, ASUS has now switched up proceedings with the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP, the first example to combine 1440p and 480 Hz visuals.

ASUS has moved closer to releasing a monitor globally that it first showcased in January during CES 2024. In recent weeks, the company finally started selling the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP and ROG Swift OLED PG39WCDM across markets like the UK and the US. Now, it has turned to the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP, which it has showcased at Gamescom 2024 in Cologne.

To recap, The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP utilises a 27-inch OLED panel that outputs at 1440p, much like Dell's Alienware AW2725DF (curr. $689.99 on Amazon). However, whereas the Alienware AW2725DF complements its 1440p resolution with a 360 Hz refresh rate, the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP ups the latter to 480 Hz. Moreover, the LG WOLED panel upon which ASUS' monitor relies also delivers 0.03 ms GtG response times aided by AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC variable refresh rate (VRR) technologies.

As the video below shows, ASUS has decided to market the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP as the 'world's first 1440p 480 Hz OLED gaming monitor'. According to TFTCentral, ASUS will soon offer the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP in the US and the Eurozone for $999 and €1,099, respectively. While the monitor is not yet available in either of these markets, it can already be purchased in the UK for £948.98, with first shipments due on September 11.
