Ultimately, what MSI does well with the GT70 is they give you a high performance gaming notebook (or mobile workstation) platform that can be customized in a variety of ways, and the price is generally comparable or somewhat lower than what you’ll pay for equivalent offerings from Clevo resellers – not to mention the ASUS G750JZ and Alienware 17 alternatives.

For the price of $2779, the MSI GT70 2PE Dominator Pro doesn’t come cheap. But for its price it comes maxed out with the best possible specifications and features you will need from a gaming notebook. Last year’s GT70 was my favorite gaming notebook and this year’s updated MSI GT70 2PE Dominator Pro still remains one of the best. It’s not just a gaming notebook, it’s a behemoth machine that will make gamers and geeks full with glee when they use it.

Starting with the build quality and design of the GT70 Dominator MSI have delivered a system which scores well on the former and reasonably well on the latter. It certainly feels solid to hold and there were no defects on our sample. The screen is lovely with great viewing angles, the keyboard is solid, one of the best on a laptop, as has been the case with MSI systems for a while and there are nice touches around the system like the gold plated audio connectors or high quality components used.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M: High-end graphics card from the GeForce GTX 800M series.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
4800MQ: Haswell-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.7 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.7 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
