The Redmi Note 8T will start receiving MIUI 12 this month, according to Xiaomi Russia. The news comes from the company's Russian-language MIUI 12 update tracker page, which also revealed the expected release dates of Xiaomi's OS update for the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8. The Redmi Note 8T is yet to receive even Android 10, having been released on Android 9.0 Pie, so MIUI 12 could be a big update for the device.
Currently, all is known is to expect the update in October, but Xiaomi has apparently scheduled a new raft of MIUI 12 upgrades from October 20. These devices include the global versions of the Redmi 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro, which are not to be confused with their Indian namesakes that have already received MIUI 12.
While the Redmi Note 8T may have to wait until the end of the month before it receives MIUI 12, there are multiple reports of more Redmi Note 7 Pro handsets being upgraded to Xiaomi's latest OS. The inaugural MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 7 Pro had been kept on a tight leash, but it seems that the update is now hitting more devices - not just those that have participated in Xiaomi's beta program. The update is still called V22.214.171.124.QFHINXM and should be arriving as a 722 MB over-the-air (OTA) upgrade in the next few days if it has not already.
