Kimovil is a popular site for those shopping for a new smartphone, as it conveniently lists current prices from dozens of retailers that are based in China and Europe. Therefore, it can be expected that Chinese OEMs would feature heavily in the website’s best-selling smartphones of the week chart, and they do, with just one representative from Apple and three from Samsung spoiling the party.
However, with so many Chinese OEMs offering up affordable and decent smartphones, it’s still surprising to see Xiaomi and its related brands, Redmi and POCO, swallowing up 16 places out of a possible 25. Remarkably, this includes nine out of the top 10 positions, with the OnePlus Nord managing to keep the Redmi 9 smartphone away from 10th place.
Ruling the roost is the incredibly well-specced (for the price) POCO X3, which is a true return to form for the brand that delivered the revered Pocophone F1. The POCO X3 may be cheap, but it is not so much cheerful as downright ecstatic when it comes to features: 120 Hz display, 8nm octa-core SoC (SD 732G), 6 GB RAM, UFS 2.1 storage, 5,160-mAh battery, 64 MP quad camera system, and the aforementioned 3.5 mm jack to delight audiophiles.
It’s hardly surprising the POCO X3 leads the table over at Kimovil, which lists a massive 8,482 smartphones at the time of writing. Mi UK prices the 6 GB + 64 GB model at just £199 (US$260) but shoppers in countries such as Spain can take advantage of frequent flash sales and pick up the POCO X3 from €199 (US$235). With the POCO F2 Pro occupying second place, it seems POCO is becoming more relevant than ever since becoming an independent brand from Xiaomi.
