Loewe Stellar Smart TV features a back made out of cooled lava, 144 Hz MLA OLED panel and 1 TB SSD
The Loewe Stellar DR+ Smart TV was announced last summer, and now Loewe is expanding the range to include a lava version. This stands out from other TVs with similar specs thanks to its particularly striking design, as Loewe combines a black housing made of brushed aluminum with a concrete back covered with a 60-micrometer-thin layer of cooled lava.
According to Loewe, cooled lava is not only environmentally friendly and available in large quantities, but also corrosion-resistant and can easily handle the waste heat from the OLED panel. It is also said to have a dampening effect on the sound, but whether this is a positive effect is questionable. Otherwise, the hardware of the Loewe Stellar DR+ has not changed in the new lava version: Loewe continues to use an MLA OLED panel from LG Display, which reaches full 4K resolution, a frame rate of 144 Hz and an HDR peak brightness of 1,500 nits.
Thanks to HDMI 2.1 and VRR, the smart TV is also likely suitable for gaming enthusiasts in tandem with an Xbox Series X or a PlayStation 5. The integrated 80 watt soundbar has six drivers. An integrated 1 TB SSD allows users to record TV programs. Loewe also offers an optional, motorized stand, which allows the height of the TV to be adjusted at the touch of a button. An LED strip on the lower edge provides some ambient lighting.
Price and availability
The Loewe Stellar DR+ Lava is now available for purchase in Europe and scheduled to come onto the market in the UK at the end of February. The 48 inch model is priced at 3,799€/£3,799, the 55-inch model at 4,299€/£4,299, and the 65-inch model at 5,999€/£5,999. Further details about the smart TV can be found on Loewe's website.
