Intel has taken the wraps off its Comet Lake U series, with a slew of OEMs following Dell in refreshing their thin and light laptops. We have already seen HP and ASUS doing so, and now Lenovo is bringing Comet Lake U devices to market. Specifically, the Chinese company has posted upgraded hardware for the IdeaPad C340, a device that it only announced earlier this year at MWC19 in Barcelona.
The company posted the new spec sheet on its UK and US websites, although it may have done so slightly to soon, as it has now swiftly reverted both to the versions that it announced at MWC19. Lenovo appears to have only upgraded the processor, with all specifications remaining the same. The refreshed IdeaPad C340 will come with up to an Intel Core i7-10710U processor according to the spec sheet, with @momomo_us also seemingly claiming that the device will come with a choice of four Comet Lake U processors. These are as follows:
Model | Cores/Threads | Base clock | Boost clock - Single core | Cache |
---|---|---|---|---|
Core i3-10110U | 2/4 | 2.1 GHz | 4.1 GHz | 3.7 GHz |
Core i5-10210U | 4/8 | 1.6 GHz | 4.2 GHz | 3.9 GHz |
Core i5-10510U | 4/8 | 1.8 GHz | 4.9 GHz | 4.3 GHz |
Core i7-10710U | 6/12 | 1.1 GHz | 4.6 GHz | 3.8 GHz |
The Core i7-10710U and a GeForce MX230 should make for a capable multimedia laptop, although it will be interesting to see how well the IdeaPad C340 can cool these components. There is no word on a release date yet, but it would figure that Lenovo plans to refresh the 15-inch model too.
