Leaked listing shows HP laptops with Intel Comet Lake-U and NVIDIA MX250 graphics options
We've been seeing several benchmarks of of Intel Comet Lake-U CPUs for quite some time now including those from from HP laptops. The latest leak is appears to be a listing of HP laptops indicating a few Comet Lake-U configurations in the offing.
A screenshot of HP's Comet Lake-powered notebook offerings was posted by user @momomo_us on Twitter indicating that laptops powered by these new CPUs are just around the corner. Although the exact model numbers and other specs are not indicated, we see a total of three configuration options in this leak:
- Intel Core i5-10210U (4C/8T, 1.6 GHz base, 4.2 GHz turbo, and 6 MB cache) with NVIDIA MX250 GPU
- Intel Core i7-10510U (4C/8T, 1.8 GHz base, 4.9 GHz turbo, and 8 MB cache) with NVIDIA MX250 GPU
- Intel Core i5-10210U (4C/8T, 1.6 GHz base, 4.2 GHz turbo, and 6 MB cache) with Intel UHD Graphics
While the 10th gen 10nm Ice Lake parts are also expected to show up in laptops shortly, Comet Lake-U is a direct successor to Whiskey Lake and will continue to be fabbed in the 14nm process. So, what does that mean with respect to performance?
Geekbench leaks over the past few weeks did seem to suggest the Core i7-10510U offering better single-core performance than a Ryzen 7 3750H and comparable scores to a Whiskey Lake Core i7-8565U. However, it is too early to conclude anything at this point as a lot depends on how OEMs factor in thermals.
It will be interesting to see if Intel would opt for a multi-core boost clock specification as was indicated in one of the very first Comet Lake-U leaks we've reported. There are rumblings of a Core i7-10710U SKU as well with 6 cores 12 threads and a boost close to 5 GHz, but we don't see that listed in this particular leak.
