Lenovo confirms new Legion gaming phone to challenge RedMagic 11 Pro series

Lenovo has been updating its Legion gaming tablet lineup each year, but it's been a while since the company has launched a Legion-branded phone. The last one was the Y70, which came out in 2022, featuring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
At launch, the 2022 Legion Y70 went against the likes of the Asus ROG Phone 6 and RedMagic 7S lineup. However, this Lenovo gaming phone didn't see a refresh rate, but now, the next-gen model is set to go official soon.
With a not-so-unexpected announcement, the company has confirmed that it will be announcing a new Legion gaming phone soon. The brand didn't share much, but it has teased that a May 2026 launch is on the cards.
Now, the reason why this announcement isn't fully unexpected is that an unreleased Legion-branded gaming phone was recently spotted in the wild. Specifically, the smartphone made an appearance at an event held in China in March 2026.
The first set of images that emerged showed a very familiar design. To be specific, the unreleased Legion phone looked similar to Lenovo's Motorola Edge 70 from the back, featuring an identical camera island.
Of course, the finish on the back of the phone does appear different, and the Legion branding was quite prominent in the pictures. Lenovo stayed quiet about this smartphone until now, and the brand is promising a "smoother" and "more enjoyable" mobile gaming experience.
It's still unclear what SoC will be powering the phone, but Lenovo is likely to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. That would make the device a proper competitor to the RedMagic 11 Pro series.
