Lenovo Legion Go users report their handhelds getting bricked after installing the latest BIOS update

A new BIOS update for the original Lenovo Legion Go was released around two months ago, but instead of improving the handheld, it appears to be causing serious problems for some users. Multiple reports claim that installing the latest BIOS version, N3CN42WW, can leave the device completely unusable.

The first report surfaced around a month ago, when a Legion Go owner said their handheld was bricked immediately after installing the BIOS update. Fortunately, they were eventually able to recover the device, but only after going through extensive troubleshooting.

Since then, more users have reported the same issue, with the latest complaint appearing today, August 3, suggesting that the problem is still ongoing. According to the latest user, their Legion Go was working perfectly before the BIOS update. However, once the installation finished, the handheld became completely unusable.

The user said the device now shows nothing but a black screen. The power button and controller LEDs still light up, but the system does not boot, leaving the handheld effectively bricked.

What makes the situation even more frustrating is that the user followed Lenovo's recommended recovery steps, but none of them resolved the issue. They eventually sent the device to Lenovo for repair, only to be told that the warranty had expired. According to the user, Lenovo classified it as a chargeable repair and quoted €237.16, despite the problem reportedly being caused by the official BIOS update.

At the time of writing, Lenovo has not publicly acknowledged the issue or provided an official workaround. While the issue appears to affect only a limited number of users, anyone still running an older BIOS version may want to wait before updating to version N3CN42WW until Lenovo releases a fix for it.
