The Legion Go 2 has been a long time coming. Unveiled in January at CES 2025 alongside the Legion Go S (curr. $649.99 on Amazon), Lenovo has still not confirmed its second-generation gaming handheld will be available. However, there have been suggestions from the company's Latin America (LATM) team that the Legion Go 2 will officially launch this September.
In the meantime, a lengthy video showcasing a Legion Go 2 prototype has been posted online. Available to watch on Bilibili and YouTube, the video covers the prototype at length with a partial device disassembly too. Covered at about 19 minutes in, the disassembly confirms that Lenovo has split the Legion Go 2's 74 Wh battery across two cells rather than the combined solution of previous models.
Moreover Lenovo has included a VRR-compatible OLED panel that should span 8.8-inches diagonally while outputting at 1,920 x 1,200 pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio. Surprisingly though, the prototype features the Ryzen Z2 and 32 GB of LPDDR5-7500 RAM rather than the more powerful Ryzen Z2 Extreme. The latter is expected to be making its way to retail units, which would see the Legion Go 2 matching the MSI Claw A8. Incidentally, MSI's first AMD Ryzen-based gaming handheld is available to pre-order in Europe too, full details of which we have covered separately.
