At the end of the day, should you buy this device? Well, for the price Lenovo is asking for, we don’t think you can get anything extremely better than that. Especially if you want or need the versatility of the touchscreen. If you are willing to spend a little bit more, check out the Yoga 730, which is a pretty decent convertible.

If I was looking at a new laptop at the moment, this would be well up on the list. Despite its failings, the fact that I could potentially replace my tablet and laptop with one device is a big win. The weight and lack of battery in certain circumstances are the biggest drawbacks that would make me seriously look elsewhere. I would like to have seen the screen delivered with higher resolution and a bit more a of responsive touch to the keyboard, this is my personal preference though – not a specific problem with the hardware.

All-in-all we’ve got a great experience with this laptop. We love to see more and more convertible devices, as this would generally mean that the technology is improving, as there is more competition. However, we were most impressed by the performance of the laptop, as well as its looks.

With the IdeaPad C340-15IWL, Lenovo delivers a well-equipped 15.6-inch convertible, which also offers very good battery life. The IPS touchscreen display can be operated with your fingers as well as with the Lenovo Active Pen 2, which can be purchased separately.

The Lenovo IdeaPad C340 is a fine convertible laptop with sufficient power for everyday tasks. With the inbuilt dedicated GPU, you can even try your hand at gaming. Its display, though not bright enough, is good for annotation and doodling with the bundled stylus. Where does the device not succeed then? At 1.65 kilogrammes, it’s quite heavy for tablet use. Its battery life, too, is disappointingly short, especially if you turn the screen brightness up to max. If you can live with those two minuses, and the fact that the sound isn’t too great, the Lenovo IdeaPad C340 is a convertible worth picking.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.
In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.
In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.
AMD Vega 8: Integrated graphics card of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 8 CUs (= 512 shaders) and a clock of up to 1100 MHz.
NVIDIA GeForce MX230: Pascal (GP108) based entry-level graphics card with GDDR5 graphics memory. Only suited for less demanding games.
AMD Vega 3: Integrated graphics card of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 3 CUs (= 192 shaders) and a clock of up to 1200 MHz.
AMD Vega 10: Integrated graphics card of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 10 CUs (=640 shaders) and a clock of up to 1300 MHz.

Intel Core i5:
i5-8265U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.6 and 3.9 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.
AMD Picasso (Ryzen 3000 APU):
R5 3500U: Mobile Quad-Core APU using Zen+ cores clocked at 2.1 to 3.7 GHz and a Vega iGPU with 8 CUs running at up to 1200 MHz.
R3 3200U: A dual-core APU with two Zen cores clocked at 2.6 GHz to 3.5 GHz (with SMT support for a total of 4 threads) and a Vega graphics adapter with 3 CUs clocked at up to 1,200 MHz. The Ryzen 3 is designed for laptops.
R7 3700U: A laptop-grade APU featuring four Zen+ cores clocked at 2.3 GHz to 4 GHz and a Vega graphics adapter with 10 CUs clocked at up to 1,400 MHz.
Intel Comet Lake:
i3-10110U: Comet Lake based low power dual-core processor (technically identical to Whiskey Lake and still produced in 14nm++). The CPU cores can clock between 2.1 and 4.1 GHz (all 2 cores 3.7 GHz max.) with HyperThreading (4 threads). The integrated memory controller supports up to LPDDR4-2933 and using cTDP up/down the performance can be adjusted by the OEM (10 - 25 Watt possible, 15W default). The integrated graphics adapter clocks from 300 - 1000 MHz and only offers 23 instead of 24 CUs.
i7-10510U: Comet Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Whiskey Lake and still produced on 14nm++). The CPU cores can clock between 1.8 and 4.9 GHz (all 4 cores 4.3 GHz max.) with HyperThreading (8 threads). The integrated memory controller supports DDR4-2666 and using cTDP up/down the performance can be adjusted by the OEM (10 - 25 Watt possible, 15W default).

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
No weight comment found (one expected)!
81.69%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
