The most important practical advancement is the new Space Frame architecture and modular internal design. Selected USB ports are located on replaceable modules or a separate I/O board, while components including the battery, keyboard, touchpad, speakers, and cooling fans can also be serviced individually. Its factory color accuracy is poor, but our Design and Office Work profile reduces the average error from 5.8 to an excellent 1.1 dE 2000.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 Aura Edition is another excellent evolution of Lenovo's flagship business notebook. It combines strong CPU performance, exceptional battery life, a gorgeous OLED display and one of the best laptop keyboards in the industry, all wrapped in a remarkably light 2.15-pound chassis.

Outweighing the lack of any performance gains with this year’s edition and battery life decreasing by a few hours is the greater repairability that should help extend the useful life of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14. It’s just a well-built machine with a rare combination of being very lightweight yet sturdy (and the keyboard is *chef’s kiss*).

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 Aura Edition takes the same top-rated laptop as before and swaps out the guts with an improved layout and a faster chip. No, this won’t be a fleet machine for the average office worker, but executives and others lucky enough to get one from IT (or small-business owners who want to splash the cash on their primary laptop) will love it.
