Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15ADA05
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15ADA05 is an entry-level laptop for everyday tasks. Equipped with up to an AMD Ryzen 7 4700U Mobile processor and independent AMD Radeon™ graphics card options, it can easily multi-task, achieve fast performance, and deliver an excellent entertainment experience. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15ADA05 has a simple, modern appearance. Weighing just 1.85 kilograms and being less than 20 millimetres thick, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 is a fairly light and thin 15.6" laptop. In the case construction, only plastic is used, and the only colour option available is platinum grey. The slim bezel on both sides allows users to take full advantage of the FHD graphics card. The extremely high screen-to-body ratio makes everything look and feel quite immersive. The colour imaging is relatively bright, too. The matte screen uses a TN panel with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and a maximum brightness of 220 nits, but it has quite limited viewing angles.
Thanks to the HDMI-1.4b output, users can connect an external monitor to the laptop and get a maximum resolution of 4K at 30 Hz. As a storage unit, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15ADA05 comes with a 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD. The storage capacity can be expanded using SD memory cards, since this laptop has a reader for this type of memory card. As a standard, it has 8 GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM, of which 4 GB are soldered to the motherboard and the other 4 GB occupy the only socket on the motherboard. Lenovo managed to reduce the price by not including Windows 10 as an operating system, so users will have to get a license for this system from Microsoft if they need it. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15ADA05 does not have a USB Type-C port, but it does have two USB-3.0 ports and a full-size USB-2.0 port. The Internet connection will have to be made through the dual-band AC-Wifi chip with Bluetooth 5.0, since this laptop does not have a network port. The keyboard has a numerical section, but it is not backlit. When it comes to privacy, sometimes the most direct way works best. For this reason, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15ADA05 laptops are equipped with a webcam lens cover. When you finish a video chat, just close the lens cover to prevent hackers from invading the webcam. To further improve the entertainment experience, Dolby Audio™ enhanced dual speakers enhance the sound effect, allowing users to enjoy great audio. The two-cell battery has a capacity of 35 Wh and will allow users to achieve up to 6 hours of usage. In conclusion, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15ADA05 features entry-level specifications. It is a good choice for users who are looking for a 15.6" laptop at a lower budget and work with a medium level of demand. Furthermore, this laptop is better suited for users who do not require pre-installed Windows 10.

As we said at the beginning of the review, your expectations should have been low. Unfortunately, the IdeaPad 3i Gen 6 (15″) kind of proved this with its poor build quality. Interestingly, Lenovo has shown with a lot of ThinkPads that it can make good-quality plastic devices. However, this particular laptop falls short of that, as its chassis is super bendy, and the hinges are unstable. Given the fact that the build is what provides the first impression, we feel that they could have done a better job.

The 15ADA05 version of the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 has no fatal flaws, but it has several disappointing ones, from a keyboard that's no fun to a mediocre display and missing USB-C port. It'll get the job done, but we've seen nicer economy notebooks on both the Windows and Chromebook sides of the aisle. We suggest checking out the Asus and MSI alternatives mentioned earlier if you're resolutely pegged at $400 to $450 and must have a Windows-based machine.

All in all, Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 2021 (AMD) is arguably one of the best budget laptops that you can buy in the market right now. It comes with capable hardware alongside a sturdy and portable form factor. As I’ve discussed throughout the review, my experience with the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 has been really good except for the mediocre TN panel, which you should be looking out for if you are planning to buy it.

So, besides the M.2 PCIe x4 slot offered with both options, the 38Wh unit also comes with a SATA drive bay. And you get the accessories needed to mount such a drive inside the box. This Lenovo is affordable, but it’s not cheap. Arguably the biggest disadvantage of a laptop at this price point is its build quality. The base is super flexy – it even surprised us. Our advice is to wait for deals around events like Black Friday, and Amazon Prime day, because we expect this exact unit to be heavily discounted.

We test many laptops that are more impressive than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3i, but they all cost a lot more (and you may be able to find it for even less than its $529.99 Amazon price at press time). It doesn't have any obvious flaws, and while its screen and keyboard may not delight you, they aren't as disappointing as many budget models. Put it this way: The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is an under-$600 Windows laptop that doesn't make us consider a Chromebook instead.

Wrapping it all up, I think the IdeaPad 3 2022 (Intel) checks most boxes for a good low-cost Ultrabook. It comes with a capable 12th Gen CPU, a modern design, a decent keyboard, and quite nice battery life with fast charging support. While I fully agree that Lenovo should’ve gone with an IPS panel this time, as I mentioned earlier, this display isn’t nearly as bad as last year. So yeah, it’s quite a well-rounded package. Lenovo IdeaPad 3 is an excellent budget laptop, with great performance and a slew of modern conveniences that offers the experience of a premium laptop. It comes in compact chassis that also looks quite premium. And the laptop delivers a long battery life with support for fast charging Therefore, we can easily recommend it to anyone looking for a laptop for home and school.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.
In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.
In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel UHD Graphics 610: Integrated GPU (GT1) with 12 EUs found on some low-end Pentium Gold CPUs (e.g. Whisky-Lake based 15 W ULV series). Same performance as the old HD Graphics 610 and 510.
Intel UHD Graphics 600: Integrated low-end graphics adapter with DirectX 12 support, which can be found in some ULV SoCs from the Gemini Lake series. Compared to the HD Graphics 500, the 600 offers improved display outputs. Compared to the faster UHD Graphics 605, the 600 offers less shaders at lower clock speeds.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Mobile: Mid range dedicated graphics card for laptops based on the desktop GTX 1650 and therefore the Turing architecture (TU117 chip in 12nm FFN) without raytracing and Tensor cores. Available with 896 and 1024 shaders.

Intel Ice Lake:

This Core i3 saw the light of day in 2019; it is designed for use in highly portable consumer laptops of the more affordable flavour. The CPU cores run at 1.2 GHz to 3.4 GHz which is not a lot. The Sunny Cove microarchitecture that is in use here is notable for several improvements over Skylake including support for new technologies, new instruction sets and fast LPDDR4-3733 RAM. There is no PCIe 4 support here, however.
i5-1035G1: A low-power, Ice Lake family processor (SoC) featuring 4 cores, 8 threads, 6 MB of L3 cache and the UHD G1 (32 EUs) iGPU. This Core i5 saw the light of day in H2 2019; it is designed for use in highly portable consumer laptops. The CPU cores run at 1.0 GHz to 3.6 GHz. AMD Renoir (Ryzen 4000 APU):
R3 4300U: Mobile Quad-Core APU using four Zen 2 cores clocked at 2.7 to 3.7 GHz and a Vega graphics adapter with 5 CUs clocked at up to 1400 MHz. The CPU does not support SMT / Hyperthreading.
R5 4500U: An upper mid-range, hexa-core APU designed for use in thinner, lighter laptops. The Ryzen features Zen 2 CPU cores running at 2.3 GHz to 4.0 GHz along with the Vega 6 graphics adapter (6 x 64 = 384 unified shaders). The thread-doubling SMT technology is not enabled in the case of Ryzen 5 4500U.
R7 4800H: A laptop-grade octa-core APU with SMT-enabled Zen 2 cores clocked at 2.9 GHz to 4.2 GHz and a Vega series graphics adapter with 7 CUs clocked at up to 1,600 MHz.
AMD Picasso (Ryzen 3000 APU):
R5 3500U: Mobile Quad-Core APU using Zen+ cores clocked at 2.1 to 3.7 GHz and a Vega iGPU with 8 CUs running at up to 1200 MHz.
R3 3250U: An entry-level, dual-core APU designed for use in affordable laptops. The Ryzen features two Zen cores clocked at 2.6 GHz to 3.5 GHz (SMT support is enabled for a total of 4 threads) and a Vega series graphics adapter. These specifications are similar to the older 3200U, with the higher peak operating temperature of the latter (105 °C versus 95 °C) being the only difference.
AMD Raven Ridge (Ryzen 2000 APU):
3020e: Mobile APU that integrates two Zen cores (without SMT, therefore 2 threads) clocked at 1.2 to 2.6 GHz. The TDP is specified at 6 Watt and therefore the chip can be passively cooled. The integrated Radeon graphics adapter offers 3 CUs at up to 1,000 MHz (Radeon RX Vega 3). The dual channel memory controller supports DDR4-2400. The chip is manufactured on the 14 nm process and officially counted to the 3000 series of mobile processors.
Intel Comet Lake:
Pentium Gold 6405U: Comet Lake based low power dual-core processor (technically identical to Whiskey Lake and still produced in 14nm++). The CPU cores can clock at 2.4 GHz (no Turbo) with HyperThreading (4 threads). The integrated memory controller supports only LPDDR3-2133/DDR4-2400 (compared to DDR4-2666 in the Core i3) and using cTDP down the power consumption and performance can be adjusted by the OEM (800 MHz, 12.5 W).
i5-10300H: Comet Lake architecture (4th gen of Skylake) based processor for big and heavy laptops. Integrates four processor cores clocked at 2.5 - 4.5 GHz (4.2 GHz for all 4 cores) with HyperThreading support.
Intel Tiger Lake:
i5-1135G7: A quad-core, mid-range processor of Tiger Lake product family designed for use in ultra-light laptops. The i5 is manufactured on Intel's second-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin and features an 80 EU Iris Xe G7 iGPU. Core i5-1135G7 has a base clock speed of 2.4 GHz as long as it is allowed to consume 28 watts.
i3-1115G4: Tiger Lake based dual-core processor for thin and light laptops. The two CPU cores are clocked at 3 GHz - 4.1 GHz and the integrated UHD Graphics Xe GPU can run at up to 1.25 GHz.
i7-1165G7: An upper mid-range, quad-core processor of Tiger Lake product family. The i7 is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops; it is manufactured on Intel's third-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin. The CPU cores run at 2.8 GHz (base clock speed @ 28 W TDP) to 4.7 GHz (single-core Boost frequency). This i7 features the 96 EU Intel Iris Xe G7 iGPU; it was the second-fastest CPU of TGL-UP3 line-up when Intel initially launched the series in 2020.
AMD Lucienne (Zen 2, Ryzen 5000):
R7 5700U: A laptop-grade APU featuring eight SMT-enabled Zen 2 cores running at 1.8 GHz to 4.3 GHz and a Vega series graphics adapter with 8 CUs clocked at up to 1,900 MHz.
R5 5500U: A hexa-core APU designed for use in ultra-thin, upper mid-range laptops. The Ryzen features six Zen 2 CPU cores running at 2.1 GHz to 4.0 GHz alongside the Vega 7 graphics adapter (448 unified shaders running at up to 1,800 MHz). One could be forgiven for thinking Ryzen 5 5500U is a renamed Ryzen 5 4500U - which is not the case. Ryzen 5 5500U is most similar to Ryzen 5 4600U, the most noteworthy difference between the two being the faster iGPU model of the former.
R3 5300U: A mobile quad-core APU with Zen 2 cores clocked at 2.6 to 3.8 GHz and a Vega graphics adapter with 6 CUs clocked at up to 1500 MHz. The Ryzen 3 CPU is very similar to the Ryzen 3 4300U.
Intel Gemini Lake:
Celeron N4020: A slow dual-core processor (SoC) of the Gemini Lake refresh product family. The Celeron runs at 1.1 GHz to 2.8 GHz and features a DirectX 12 capable UHD Graphics 600 integrated graphics adapter. An undeniably low-end product, this CPU is designed for use in laptops and mini-PCs of the most affordable kind.
AMD Cezanne (Zen 3, Ryzen 5000):
R7 5825U: Zen 3-based octa-core APU for thin and light laptops running at 2 GHz to 4.5 GHz and featuring the Vega 8 iGPU (8 CUs clocked at up to 2,000 MHz).
Intel Alder Lake-M:
i5-1235U: On Alder-Lake based mobile CPU with 2 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. The performance cores offer hyper threading, leading to 12 threads that can be processed. The CPU clocks from 0.9 to 4.4 GHz. The TDP is specified at 15 Watt.
i7-1255U: Alder Lake based mobile CPU with 2 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. The performance cores offer hyper threading, leading to 12 threads that can be processed. The CPU clocks from 1.2 to 4.7 GHz. The TDP is specified at 15 Watt.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
