Leak shares some key details of new Redmi gaming tablet

MediaTek launched the Dimensity 9400 in October of last year, and the flagship SoC currently stands as a direct competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite. As the company did in the past, the slightly improved Dimensity 9400+ is reportedly in the works, and a new Redmi gaming tablet could be among the first devices to feature it.

Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station reports that Xiaomi is preparing to release that gaming tablet alongside a new Dimensity 9400+ smartphone. They are rumored to launch in early Q3 2025, possibly right around the time when companies release phones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version.

Digital Chat Station reports that the Redmi gaming tablet will feature a compact form factor, featuring an 8.8-inch LCD screen. This would make the tab fall in the same category as the 2025 Lenovo Legion tablet in terms of size. The leaker adds that the device will have an “ultra-thin and light” metal body, which should make it travel-friendly.

Even though the leaker didn’t share any screen specs, given that it’s a gaming-focused device, it will likely sport a 120 Hz or 144 Hz panel. When it comes to performance, typically, the Plus variants of the Dimensity flagship SoCs have been more of a small upgrade over the existing chip. So, with the Dimensity 9400+, the Redmi gaming tablet should offer slightly better performance than the existing Dimensity 9400-powered devices (256 GB Galaxy Tab S10+ with Dimensity 9300+ curr. $1,059.05 on Amazon).

Other specs of the gaming tablet are still under wraps, but reports about the device have been popping up quite often. So, more details could surface soon.
