Latest SteamOS update adds support for two Ayaneo handhelds

Valve released a new SteamOS update earlier this week, and while it brings several new features and improvements, the changelog also reveals development is ongoing to bring SteamOS to more third-party handhelds, including two that are made by Ayaneo.
According to the changelog, the new update which arrives as version 3.8.28, adds initial gamepad support for the Ayaneo Pocket S2 and the Ayaneo Konkr Fit. The former is an Android handheld released in mid-2025 and is powered by the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3. The Konkr Fit, on the other hand, is the first Windows handheld from Ayaneo's Konkr sub-brand, and depending on the configuration, it is powered by AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 or Ryzen AI 9 HX 470.
While support for the Konkr Fit is great, the Pocket S2 is the more interesting device since it has an ARM processor like the Steam Frame, albeit a different one. Nevertheless, there's still a bit of waiting to be done, since initial gamepad support means SteamOS is still in early development for these devices, so there's no stable update yet that owners of the Ayaneo Pocket S2 and Konkr Fit can install on their devices. However, we can expect an official and stable build will be released in the future.
In addition to the Ayaneo handhelds, the changelog also mentions that the update brings improved support for the MSI Claw and OneXPlayer device variants. There's also initial gamepad support for the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ (available on Amazon for $2,299); updated gamepad support for the OneXPlayer F1 and OneXPlayer 2 special edition models; and updated gamepad support for the OneXPlayer Apex with new firmware.
