Anbernic RG DDS pre-order is live, but there's a long wait before it ships

Anbernic has begun accepting pre-orders for its new dual-screen handheld, the RG DDS. Announced a week ago, the handheld is available in two configurations and comes with a pre-order discount.
The Anbernic RG DDS starts at $299.99 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and goes up to $364.99 for the 12GB RAM version with 256GB of storage. However, as a pre-order bonus, Anbernic is offering buyers a $15 discount, thus bringing the price down to $284.99 and $349.99 respectively. Available color options for the Anbernic RG DDS are Glacier White, Basalt Black, and Phantom Blue.
Anbernic says that the RG DDS is a pre-order product and shipping will gradually start on December 10, 2026.
Interestingly, Anbernic isn't selling the RG DDS with microSD cards as it has done in the past with previous devices. Notwithstanding, each unit comes with a USB cable, a retractable capacitive stylus, and two screen protectors. Unfortunately, there are no official cases or protective bags for the handheld as at the time of writing.
When compared to rival devices such as the Retroid Pocket Duo which costs $269 ($249 until October 31) and has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the Anbernic RG DDS can be termed expensive. Its displays are 60Hz IPS panels, unlike the Pocket Duo which has 120Hz OLED displays. Retroid's handheld also has a higher resolution top display. However, the Anbernic RG DDS has the more powerful processor and also boasts an integrated stylus.
