CES 2020 | Latest GeForce graphics and 6-core Comet Lake-U coming to the 2020 HP Spectre x360 15

The 2020 model isn't a huge redesign, but it's not a minor one either. The minor tweaks to the CPU, keyboard, and webcam all add up to a slightly smaller package and a more powerful system when compared to the 2019 model. The unspecified Nvidia GPU is also intriguing.

HP has been refreshing its Spectre lineup so fast that it's becoming difficult to keep up with all the changes. The latest revision involves the 15.6-inch Spectre x360 15 with both new internals and a slightly redesigned chassis.

Internally, the system will be updated with the new hexa-core 15 W Comet Lake-U Core i7-10710U CPU and GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU to supplant last year's quad-core Core i7-10510U and GTX 1650 Max-Q. The GeForce MX250 will also be dropped in favor of what HP has called the "latest Nvidia graphics" that we think will likely be the next-gen GeForce MX series. The option to choose between an Intel U-series or H-series processor remains a unique selling point when compared to competitors like the Dell XPS 15 or Lenovo Yoga C940-15.

Externally, HP has shrunk the top bezel by utilizing the same smaller webcam as found on the 2019 Spectre x360 13. The bezels on Spectre laptops have always been comparatively thicker than the XPS 15 or Asus ZenBook 15 and so it's nice to see that HP is paying special attention to this specific disadvantage. The final result is a higher screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent and a 13 percent smaller chassis size than last year's model.

Expect the 2020 Spectre x360 15 to become available in March for a starting price of $1599. The announcement comes alongside the new Elite Dragonfly G2 refresh.
