LEGO has not confirmed the set; reports from established community leakers point to an October–December launch window, positioning it as the next major retro-gaming model after LEGO’s NES, Atari 2600, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy sets.

It seems that LEGO is preparing to release a new retro PlayStation 1 LEGO set, giving LEGO fans and retro enthusiasts another set to look forward to in the near future. The story of the LEGO PlayStation console started when AirBricks95’s recreation of Sony’s first home console, released in 1994, appeared on the LEGO Ideas website. The model quickly garnered the support of more than 10,000 voters and drew the attention of LEGO’s review team.

However, it’s still not known whether AirBricks95 is directly involved in the project, but leaks suggest that a brick-built PS1 is coming in the future. Community reports by leakers DarthBeardBrix and TheBrickNews, shared on X, state that “a LEGO PS1 set has been reported to release between October and December 2026, and will cost $159/€159, featuring 1,911 pieces. It will be titled ‘#72306 – Sony PlayStation 1 Console’ and will include one controller as well.”

Some leaks suggest that the LEGO PS1 will hit store shelves by October 2026, while others point to a December 2026 release window around Christmas. The arrival of this set would add to LEGO’s expansive roster of retro game console sets, which already includes recreations of the iconic NES with a tiny TV, the Sega Genesis, and the Atari 2600.

One of the most detailed LEGO game console sets yet?

Considering the LEGO Sony PS1 set is rumored to feature 1,911 LEGO pieces, it would be larger and more detailed than the LEGO Sega Genesis set, which featured only 479 pieces and cost a reasonable $39.99. However, it would be somewhat more compact than the LEGO NES set, which featured a whopping 2,464 pieces.

Currently, fans are hoping for some interactive Easter eggs, like a disc tray that opens up or working buttons, akin to the recently released, popular LEGO Game Boy set. Still, the inclusion of a PS1 controller would help ensure it is both an interactive LEGO model and a display piece for adult LEGO collectors and retro gamers.

Currently, there’s no official word, box art, or detailed information about the LEGO Sony PlayStation 1 set, but given the number of typically reliable leakers keeping an eye out for the upcoming retro LEGO set, it seems reasonable to expect it will release in late 2026.
