The collaboration between IKEA and Sonos has ended, according to a recent report. As part of the partnership, the two brands released the Symfonisk range of smart home products. It appears that these products will be phased out globally, though there are expected to be future software updates for existing users.

The IKEA and Sonos partnership is coming to an end. The collaboration began eight years ago, with the two companies working together to develop the Symfonisk series. Products include a Wi-Fi bookshelf speaker, a picture frame with a Wi-Fi speaker and various speaker lamps.

In a recent report, The Verge said that a Sonos representative had confirmed that the partnership had ended and there would be no further product releases. Apparently, the current products will be phased out globally, though Sonos has pledged to continue to support the existing Symfonisk products “for many years to come”, with plans for future software updates.

The IKEA Symfonisk products can be linked to Sonos products, with controls via the Sonos S2 app. Plus, these smart home devices can be remotely controlled via the IKEA Home Smart app when connected to the Dirigera Hub. They also support Apple AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect, and there is support for stereo sound when you pair two speakers.

As for the phasing out of IKEA Symfonisk products, they are still available at the brand’s online stores in countries like the US, the UK and the Netherlands. On the IKEA website, there is currently no mention of final sales or limited stock availability.
