After nearly seven years, Marshall has decided to refresh its Kilburn portable speaker. The new Kilburn III arrives with several upgrades including an improved build quality and a huge bump in battery life.
Like all Marshall speakers, the Kilburn III retains the familiar iconic and rugged design. The Kilburn III is available in two colors — Black & Brass and Cream — which is fewer than the five color options of the Kilburn II. It now boasts an IP54 dust and water resistance rating, an upgrade from the Kilburn II's IPX2 rating. It also retains the strap that makes it easy to carry it about considering its weight.
Some signature features have remained such as physical controls for volume, bass, and treble; a Bluetooth button, and the battery level indicator. However, Marshall has also added a switch for controlling playback, a power on/off switch, and a dedicated M-button for accessing presets.
The Kilburn III is reported to have been tuned so that bass, mid-range, and treble are reproduced clearly at every volume level. Another huge upgrade is the battery life which has jumped from 20 hours on the Kilburn II to 50 hours. The Kilburn III charges via a USB-C port and can be used as an emergency power bank. It also has a 3.5mm aux input port for wired audio.
The Kilburn III is available starting today for €349 on Marshall's website. It will also be available to buy from retailers starting on June 10. The Kilburn II is still available to buy on Amazon.com for $199.99 and on Amazon.de for €199.
