IKEA is now offering air-to-water heat pumps to customers in Germany. Offered in partnership with Svea Solar, it joins the companies’ existing solar panel and EV charging solutions. IKEA Family members are offered a discount on their purchases and may be able to claim some money back through government schemes.

IKEA is now selling air-to-water heat pumps in partnership with Svea Solar to customers in Germany. These two companies have been working together since 2020. One of the partnership’s earlier solutions was the Solstrale range of solar panels for countries like the Netherlands, Spain and France.

Now, IKEA and Svea are adding heat pumps to their combined offering in Germany. IKEA says that this solution should help to make “heat pumps affordable for the masses”. Plus, IKEA Family or the IKEA Business Network members are offered a 15% discount. The same discount is already available for the partnership’s photovoltaic systems, home energy storage systems and electric vehicle charging wall boxes. On top of this, the German government’s subsidy programs allow customers to get up to 70% of the investment costs reimbursed.

As part of the service, IKEA says that it provides expert advice, helping customers to understand if these solutions are a good fit for their homes. They will receive a “binding, fixed-price quote”, including the costs to install, maintain, and repair the heat pump. Plus, there is a 15-year performance guarantee, depending on the model. Whether or when this IKEA and Svea Solar heat pump could be available to customers in other European countries is unclear.
