New Baseus S1 Outdoor Camera with auto-tilt solar panel arrives

The Baseus Security S1 Outdoor Camera has arrived in more European countries following its recent launch in the UK. This smart home device is marketed as an “auto sun-powered tracking system” to help you to keep your property secure.

The S1 Security Camera captures video with a 2K resolution and has a 145° field of view. According to Baseus, the camera also has an 8 m (~26 ft) line of sight thanks to 8x digital zoom. The integrated spotlight delivers up to 400-lumen brightness, helping the camera to capture color footage at night. However, it is worth noting that the camera does not support 24/7 continuous recording; instead, footage is captured when motion is detected. In the accompanying Baseus Security app, users can customize two activity zones and two unwanted zones, and you can receive notifications when the camera detects motion. 

The camera has an integrated 10,400 mAh battery, and it recharges via the attached solar panel, which can automatically tilt up to 40° left or right to track the sunlight. There is 8 GB local storage, which is said to be enough for 1.5 months of captures, and the camera supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The security camera has an IP67 dust and water resistance rating, can withstand temperatures from -20 to 50°C (~-4 to 122°F), and comes with a two-year warranty.

You can currently buy the Baseus Security S1 Outdoor Camera in countries like the Netherlands, France and Germany for €99.99, thanks to a €18 discount on the €117.99 RRP. Customers in the UK can purchase the device for £74.99 at the time of writing; here, there is a £15 discount on the £99.99 RRP. It is unclear whether or when this product could launch in the US.
