The MacBook accessory company Hyper has posted a page on its website for something it calls the "mother of all USB hubs". It has a total of 18 USB ports, 4 SD card slots, a range of legacy monitor ports and, best of all, a 3.5-inch floppy disk drive. If this method of expanding on limited ports in your ultrabook sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The USB type C hub has almost become a staple for users of ultrabooks such as the Huawei MateBook series. Hyper has an interesting take on this accessory with what it terms the Ultimate Ultimate Hub (or HUUH). This elaborates on such products, which usually augment a laptop with a few extra full-sized USB ports, as well as the odd HDMI or Ethernet port.

This was too unambitious for Hyper in designing the HUUH, however. One would have a total of 18 USBs, half of which are type-Cs and half type-As. 15 of these are found on one 'side', alongside 2 SD card slots and 2 microSD card slots and the HUUH's 3.5mm jack. However, the opposite side and back is depicted as housing even more diverse I/O options.

They consist of not merely HDMI and DisplayPorts; there are also increasingly lesser-spotted Mini DVIs, VGAs, and an  Optical Audio “Toslink”. The 'rear' of the hub even features Firewire 400 and 800 ports, as well as 2 RCAs, alongside a parallel port, serial port, and a PS/2. Even more incredibly, pictures of the next side exhibits a 3.5” floppy drive.

Needless to say, images of this 'hub' come across more like a compact PC; it also looks wide and long enough to fit a MacBook Pro on it. Nevertheless, it may appeal to an audience of tech-nostalgics, and could also be nearly worth its listed US$99.99 price-tag for the novelty value alone. In fact, it's almost a shame this epic hub is in reality just an April Fool's joke.
