Huawei has now unveiled its two newest office laptops, the MateBook 13s and MateBook 14s, in China. Both laptops offer lightweight builds, 2.5K 90 Hz displays, 16 GB of RAM standard, and 11th-gen Core i5 and Core i7 processors. Pricing begins at the equivalent of US$1,085.

Earlier today, Huawei added to its MateBook lineup with the release of two new business notebooks, the MateBook 13s and MateBook 14s, in China. Both laptops share technical specifications and should serve as solid alternatives to Apple's MacBooks.

The MateBook 13s features a 13.4-inch 2.5K 90 Hz LTPS display, with 400-nit max brightness, ten-point touch support, and a 178-degree viewing angle. Under the hood are two choices of either a Core™ i7-11370H or a Core™ i5-11300H. Accompanying that is Intel's Iris® Xᵉ Graphics. 512 GB of NVMe PCIe SSD storage is standard, as is 16 GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Dimensions are provided as 297.2 mm x 218.4 mm x 16.5 mm. The MateBook 13s weighs in at 1.32 kg, a touch lighter than the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

The MateBook 14s is identical to the 13s but trades in the 13.4-inch display for a 14.2-inch one. Other specs are similar, as it gets the same CPUs and GPU, as well as the same amount of RAM. There is an option for a 1 TB NVMe SSD on the MateBook 14s, however. It is, of course, also bigger and heavier, being listed at 313.82 mm x 229.76 mm x 16.7 mm, and 1.43 kg.

Both laptops offer four microphones, four speakers, 60 Wh batteries, 65 W chargers, 3.5mm jacks, backlit keyboards, fingerprint power buttons, 720p cameras, and two USB Type-C ports apiece. The MateBook 14s exclusively gets a USB 3.2 port and a HDMI port, with the top-spec model 1 TB and Core i7 SKU supporting Thunderbolt 4 on its second Type-C port. The MateBook 13s and MateBook 14s both run Windows 10, with the option to upgrade to Windows 11 at no cost when it's available by the end of the year. Huawei also appears to be heavily marketing integrated mobile app compatibility on the two laptops.

Both laptops are only available in China at the moment, but the MateBook 14s with 1 TB of storage doesn't appear to be on sale yet.

Pricing:

  • MateBook 13s/14s Core i5-11300H: CNY 6,999 (US$1,085)
  • MateBook 13s/14s Core i7-11370H: CNY 7,999 (US$1,240)
