New Huawei Watch D discovered with references to blood pressure and body fat measurement capabilities
Huawei has already launched Watch 3 and Huawei Watch 3 Pro this year, two smartwatches based on its new HarmonyOS 2 platform. The Watch GT 2 or Watch GT 2 Pro were popular too, as was Huawei's cheaper options like the Watch FIT. Advanced features like blood pressure and body fat monitors have eluded all Huawei smartwatches though, including its most expensive models.
Samsung has integrated both in the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, while even the Galaxy Watch Active 2 and Galaxy Watch 3 can measure your blood pressure. You must calibrate the smartwatches using a blood pressure cuff first, mind you, which few people own. Apple is not expected to integrate blood pressure monitors in its smartwatches for a few years yet, either.
Huawei claims that it will bring such a smartwatch to market this year though, and one that does not need a blood pressure cuff for calibration. In this vein, LetsGoDigital has discovered a trademark for a 'Huawei Watch D' that the Chinese company has filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). According to the trademark filing, the Huawei Watch D is intended for:
use in medical analysis; heart rate monitoring appartus; arterial blood pressure measuring appartus; blood pressure monitors.
Unfortunately, the listing does not explain what the 'D' in Watch D means, nor does it offer any renders or sketches. No one has unearthed any Watch D specifications or launch dates either, but it will be interesting to see if Huawei meets its 2021 target.
