Samsung has just started shipping three new foldables, which it is offering globally as the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7 (curr. $1,999.99 on Amazon). However, the company is also expected to launch its first tri-fold in some capacity before the end of the year.
Allegedly lining up as the Galaxy Z TriFold, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy-powered device is tipped to officially arrive in early Q4 2025. If last year's release of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is anything to go by, then Samsung may wait until October before offering the Galaxy Z TriFold in China and South Korea.
According to Digital Chat Station, Huawei will beat Samsung to market by around a month with its second-generation tri-fold. Writing on Weibo, the leaker reports that Huawei plans to offer the device with a choice between crimson purple, dark black, red and white colour options all under the name 'Mate XTs' rather than Mate XT 2.
Arguably, the device's new name implies it will contain only minor upgrades over the existing Mate XT. Nonetheless, Digital Chat Station insists that Huawei will be introducing performance, photography and other improvements to the table. As it stands, Huawei is expected to initially release the Mate XTs in China. There is no word yet on availability in other markets yet, though.
