The Galaxy Z Fold7 is now officially the thinnest and lightest foldable Samsung flagship smartphone on Earth. The OEM also claims to have enhanced its durability and the reliability of its battery.
Despite that, it seems its main 8-inch display is not functioning as intended in a new report, failing to hold a 180° angle by itself as advertised during its introduction.
The device's apparent folding deficiency was apparently first encountered hands-on while testing a show floor unit in a Best Buy, where the Galaxy Z Fold7 is priced at $1,999.99, as it is via Amazon and other channels.
The phenomenon has been posted to Reddit by u/djda9l, who has elicited a handful of responses from some fellow users purporting to corroborate this claim (although some others assert that they were unable to replicate the defect on their own in-store tests).
Therefore, the issue might be confined to demo units alone thus far, especially as most pre-orders have yet to be fulfilled. In addition, reviewers have yet to report the problem, and we had no problem putting the device face down for photos during our hands-on at the recent Unpacked event.
Then again, the Z Fold6 reputedly had the same problem, albeit in a tiny minority of cases.
