The Mate XTs is not much more than an iterative upgrade of its Ultimate Design predecessor, yet allows Huawei to say it has now managed to get 2 tri-folding smartphones onto the market where Samsung does not even have 1 yet.
The "Galaxy Z Tri-Fold" (or possibly "Galaxy G Fold", or "Galaxy Tri-Fold") might still be on track for a 2025 debut.
The head of Samsung's mobile division TM Roh has reportedly described the device as in the “final stage” of its development, and on track to launch "by the end" of 2025.
Its actual release might prove to be an anti-climax, as Samsung's inaugural Tri-Fold is now also said to become available in very reduced quantities and possibly also exclusive to a handful of regions (one of which might be the OEM's native South Korea).
The potentially cutting-edge (and also innovatively-crafted, even compared to the Mate XTs) device is also projected to be Samsung's most expensive handset to date, although that rumor is mostly based on observations that the Galaxy Z Fold7 still starts at $1,999.99 on Amazon today.
