Tecno’s Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept debuts as one of the world’s slimmest tri-fold phones with a dual inward-folding design, a 9.94-inch display, and upgraded hinge durability over more traditional designs.
As the hype surrounding tri-fold smartphones continues to rise gradually, Tecno is looking to take on industry leaders in the segment with its new foldable prototype, dubbed the Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept. This concept, which we previously covered in a leak, features a dual inward-folding design, which tucks the entire display safely inside when closed. The result is a 9.94-inch flexible screen that folds twice, achieving a folded thickness of 11.49mm - which is significantly higher when compared to the new 8.9mm thick Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (curr. $1,999 on Amazon), but a little lower than the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate (12.8mm). But then again, the Z Fold 7 isn't a tri-fold device.
The folding mechanism utilizes two hinges: one small waterdrop-style hinge for the initial fold and a larger primary hinge that wraps the remaining display over the top. This structure can close fully without leaving any visible gap. A self-locking mechanism works to keep the device tightly shut.

When opened, the large display offers a nearly crease-free surface and a tablet-like form factor. Tecno claims it enables new use cases like multi-angle hovering and mini workstation setups. A secondary outer screen is also present, which lets the device function like a standard smartphone without unfolding it.
The phone uses 2000MPa ultra-high-strength steel in the hinge and a 0.3mm Titan Fiber (possibly referring to a titanium-based fiber) rear cover to cut weight while maintaining rigidity. Fully opened, the device is just 3.49mm thick.
The concept model also shows off a high-end chipset, triple camera setup, and over 5000mAh battery, though exact specifications haven’t been disclosed. The company is expected to showcase the device again at MWC 2026.
Tecno did show off a triple-fold prototype earlier during MWC 2025 - the Phantom Ultimate 2 Tri-Fold. You can read more about that here.
