Honor V Purse: Launch date of new wraparound foldable smartphone confirmed for later this month
Honor has now confirmed plans to launch the V Purse, a smartphone it billed as a concept when it presented it earlier this month at IFA 2023. To recap, the V Purse resembles a Mate Xs 2, a design that Huawei has since moved away from. As such, the V Purse has a wraparound display with a physical clasp that secures it in its folded state.
Additionally, the V Purse has three cameras, two along its metal edge and one that serves as a traditional front-facing camera. Honor has included a few party pieces to distinguish the V Purse from other foldables, though. Specifically, the company claimed at IFA 2023 that the V Purse is less than 9 mm thick in its folded state. In other words, the V Purse is approximately 10% thinner than the Honor Magic V2, which the company also showcased during this year's IFA conference.
Moreover, Honor has shaved about 20% off the V Purse compared to the Mate Xs and Mate Xs 2. Furthermore, the V Purse will ship with first-party cases that allow it to be worn as a quasi-hand bag, for which Honor has designed custom always-on display (AOD) live wallpapers. Unfortunately, all key hardware details remain unknown. Instead, Honor has only confirmed that it will launch the V Purse in China on September 19; details about a global launch are still pending. Honor's next launch event will commence at 19:30 China Standard Time, which is equivalent to 11:30 UTC.
