Honor MagicBook 14 AMD review - Multi-screen collaboration and ultra-compact laptop for productivity

Overall, the Honor MagicBook 14 2021 AMD model doesn't change much. However, it inherits features from its predecessors, such as the 100% sRGB colour gamut, narrow bezels, and ultracompact all-metal body. It also comes with a highly efficient AMD Ryzen 5000 series processor and strong battery life but it should mainly be used for office work and light photo or video editing but it could also be used for movie watching as well. The Honor MagicBook 14 2021 AMD model is quite competitive, even among other laptops at the same price. At less than RM3000, it's an affordable choice for students and office workers in their first job. The Honor MagicBook 14 2021 AMD model is available in Malaysia for RM2699 if you get the base model (8GB RAM+256GB SSD). You could also get one with more storage (8GB RAM+512GB) for RM2999. AMD Vega 7: Integrated graphics adapter of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 7 CUs (= 448 shaders) and a clock speed of up to 1,600 MHz.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

R5 5500U: A hexa-core APU designed for use in ultra-thin, upper mid-range laptops. The Ryzen features six Zen 2 CPU cores running at 2.1 GHz to 4.0 GHz alongside the Vega 7 graphics adapter (448 unified shaders running at up to 1,800 MHz). One could be forgiven for thinking Ryzen 5 5500U is a renamed Ryzen 5 4500U - which is not the case. Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.

In former time,s this weight was typical for big tablets, small subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles with a 10-11 inch display-diagonal. Nowadays, often 15 inch laptops weigh as much.

Honor:

In 2014 Huawei created the sub brand Honor and offers certain smartphone series under this name. Occasionally the products are also called Huawei Honor.

The market share of Honor products is manageable, but there are several reviews on Honor smartphones with average ratings (as of 2016).
