A cheap laptop doesn't exist without compromise, but despite being sold at a budget price, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14 feels premium. Its snappy performance, sturdy build, and additions like a USB-C port, Wi-Fi 6, and a fingerprint scanner help the IdeaPad 3 outclass its competition. While it might still have some of the usual budget-laptop shortcomings like uninspiring speakers and a dull display, the IdeaPad 3 14 is still worth the price of admission and is one of the best inexpensive notebooks you can buy. It's our new Editors' Choice pick for budget laptops.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 is a great laptop for work and school. If you’re looking for a mid-range laptop that work empty your pockets, but which isn’t compromised with cheap build quality and out-of-date components, then this is a great choice. However, while the IdeaPad 3 has no fatal flaws, but it has a few disappointing ones, from a mediocre display and missing USB-C port. It’ll get the job done, but we’ve seen nicer economy notebooks on both the Windows and ChromeBook side of the aisle. We suggest checking out the Acer Aspire 5 (A515-56-50RS) or the Asus VivoBook 15 alternatives mentioned earlier if you’re resolutely pegged on a tight budget and must have a Windows-based notebook.

I am very impressed with all capabilities of this laptop. If you are searching for a laptop in the market right now, I think it is kind of hard to find a laptop at this price with a slim-bezel Full-HD IPS display, a backlit keyboard, Wi-Fi 6, and a fingerprint reader. In addition, the new AMD’s CPU, the Ryzen 5 5500U chip together with the fast 8 GB of RAM instead of 4 can make this laptop a good performer. So overall, yes, this Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14 82KT00AMUS will be your good laptop, and definitely worth your money as there isn’t really anything else that even comes close on the market. The Lenovo Ideapad 3 Ryzen 5 5500U 82KT00AMUS 14-inch laptop is phenomenal considering the features it offers. New AMD Ryzen 5 5500U CPU, thin bezel IPS display, backlit keyboard, Fingerprint scanner, and Wi-Fi 6 are rare features on this price-range laptop.

AMD Vega 7: Integrated graphics adapter of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 7 CUs (= 448 shaders) and a clock speed of up to 1,600 MHz.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

R5 5500U: A hexa-core APU designed for use in ultra-thin, upper mid-range laptops. The Ryzen features six Zen 2 CPU cores running at 2.1 GHz to 4.0 GHz alongside the Vega 7 graphics adapter (448 unified shaders running at up to 1,800 MHz). One could be forgiven for thinking Ryzen 5 5500U is a renamed Ryzen 5 4500U - which is not the case. Ryzen 5 5500U is most similar to Ryzen 5 4600U, the most noteworthy difference between the two being the faster iGPU model of the former.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.
