Honor Magic 9: More Arri camera specs, full design and launch date revealed

The Robot Phone is currently the most expensive flagship camera phone on the (Chinese) market and significantly exceeds the price of, say, a Vivo X300 Ultra or an Oppo Find X9 Ultra. How much Honor’s next regular camera flagship will cost is not yet known but following the first teasers for the Magic 9 generation and the early start of the blind booking reservations in China, significantly more details have now emerged.

For instance, Honor CEO Li Jian apparently revealed the specific launch date for the Magic 9 (Pro), which, according to Digital Chat Station, will take place on September 28. As expected that would be shortly after the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, which will not be exclusively reserved for the Xiaomi 18 series this year. The highly reliable leaker has additional specs for us as well, which reveal almost the entire Arri-branded camera system of the Magic 9 series, though it remains unclear exactly which model he is referring to.

According to the leak, the main camera is based on a 1/1.28-inch 200-megapixel sensor, paired with a 3-degree optically stabilized lens featuring an f/1.57 aperture. The periscope telephoto lens is also based on a 1/1.4-inch 200-megapixel sensor with an f/2.6 aperture. The ultra-wide-angle lens has not yet been revealed, but is likely a 50-megapixel sensor. Several (AI-generated) render images are also circulating on Weibo, which, according to a well-known blogger, are intended to visualize the complete design of the Arri camera module. Honor is also reportedly switching to the increasingly popular “Pro” and “Pro Max” designations, the image here is said to show the Honor Magic9 Pro Max.
