Hisense reveals new brighter PL2 laser TV with Game Mode
Hisense has unveiled the PL2 Laser TV, which will launch in Europe later this month. The new model joins others in the PL series, like the PL1 and PL1SE. The latest device is described as delivering close to 4K resolution for larger images up to 150 inches (~380 cm) wide.
Another improvement compared to older Hisense laser TVs is a lower throw ratio of 0.22 compared to 0.25, meaning the DLP projector can sit close to the wall; for example, an 80-inch image would require an 11.6 cm distance, while a 150-inch image would need 45.7 cm. The PL2 also has a higher peak brightness level at 2,700 lumens, with the laser light sources expected to last for over 25,000 hours. On top of that, the refresh rate for 2K signals is said to have been improved. Other features include support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision and built-in 30W speakers with Dolby Atmos. You can perfect the image automatically or manually, and Sport and Game modes tailor the device for the format, such as reduced latency and motion smoothing.
Running on the VIDAA U7 operating system, the projector is compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and Apple Homekit. Plus, ports on the device include HDMI 2.1, USB and an audio jack. The Hisense PL2 Laser TV will launch in the EU sometime in August for €2,499. Whether or when the model could roll out to other markets remains to be seen; as a guide, the Hisense PL1 launch in the US several months after the EU launch.
