Hisense A10 Ultra E Ink smartphone launches with two displays and Qualcomm Dragonwing
The brand-new Hisense A10 Ultra follows a similar concept to the Bigme HiBreak Dual 3, as Hisense also features a detachable secondary display. The smartphone offers a 6.13-inch E Ink Carta 1300 main display with a resolution of 1,648 x 824 pixels and a pixel density of 300 PPI. Although this screen can only display grayscale, it’s particularly energy-efficient and can be read easily even in direct sunlight.
A front light, whose color and brightness can be adjusted in 36 levels, allows for use at night. On the back, there is a 4.96-inch LCD that can display colors and smooth animations – handy for streaming videos or playing games, for which E Ink is hardly suitable. If the secondary display isn’t needed, it can simply be removed.
The magnets on the back can then be used with magnetic chargers. The 4,000 mAh battery can be charged wirelessly at 15 watts or via USB-C at 18 watts. Aside from the unusual displays, the Hisense A10 is a typical mid-range smartphone with a Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-6690 ARM chip, a 48-megapixel main camera, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. An NFC chip, Wi-Fi 6, an infrared transmitter, and Android 16 with support for the Google Play Store round out the Hisense A10’s features.
Pricing and availability
The Hisense A10 is available either as the A10 Pro without the magnetic secondary display, or as the A10 Ultra with the secondary display. The Hisense A10 Pro, with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash storage, costs ¥2,799 ($420) in China, while the top-of-the-line model with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage costs ¥3,499 ($520). The Hisense A10 Ultra costs ¥400 ($60) more in each case. Hisense has not yet confirmed any details regarding the international launch.
