There are great expectations for AMD’s Navi GPU lineup. Nvidia has been dominating the last few months in the graphics-processing world with the releases of the GeForce GTX 16 series and GeForce RTX 20 series. Navi desperately needs to deliver if the red team wants to keep up with its rivals. Fortunately, the little news available about Navi 10 so far has been promising, and now Navi has appeared on the HWiNFO tool.
HWiNFO is a handy utility that offers detailed information about all of a system’s components. Obviously, it has to be constantly updated to remain useful and relevant – the adding of “preliminary support of AMD Navi” is a typical example. The latest version v6.04 also adds preliminary support for Intel Emmitsburg, but unlike the already famous Navi, not much is known about this mysterious hardware.
Fortunately, The Motley Fool’s Senior Technology Specialist was on hand to reply to a tweet about the new version of HWiNFO. He believes it is a codename for an Intel Platform Controller Hub (PCH). Another tweeter offered the supposition that Emmitsburg relates to the LGA4189 socket and therefore Intel’s Ice Lake microarchitecture.
