HP has introduced the refreshed HyperX Omen Max 16 gaming laptop at CES 2026, and while it's not a lightweight option, it can be equipped with top-of-the-line hardware. More specifically, the company says that there will be SKUs featuring next-gen Intel and AMD processors.
While HP didn't specifically mention the CPU options, they will likely max out at the Ryzen AI 9 HX 475 for the AMD config. As for the Intel SKU, it's expected to offer a performance-focused Panther Lake CPU option. Speaking of which, the Intel configuration can be equipped with up to the Nvidia RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, which would make the total platform power stand at 300 W.
The Intel configuration also allows users to equip the system with up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 5600 MT/s, while the AMD SKU maxes out at 48 GB of memory. To ensure stable performance under loads, HP has integrated a redesigned cooling system into the Omen Max 16, and the high-polling-rate keyboard promises a responsive typing experience.
As for the display, the gaming laptop can be equipped with up to a 240 Hz OLED display that features a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels, 0.2 ms response time, and 1,100 nits HDR brightness rating. There's a rich selection of ports as well, with both the Intel and AMD variants sporging two Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 ports.
Other highlights include support for up to 2 TB PCIe 5 storage (WD_Black SN8100 curr. $299.99 on Amazon), an 83 Wh battery, and a dual-speaker setup with DTS:X Ultra. HP has yet to share pricing details of the gaming laptop, but the refreshed HyperX Omen Max 16 is expected to be released in spring 2026.
