Alongside the EliteBook X G2q and EliteBook X G2a, HP has also unveiled an Intel-powered EliteBook called the EliteBook X G2i. However, it is accompanied by the EliteBook X Flip G2i, which, as its name suggests, can double up as a tablet. Then there’s a third ‘lightweight’ variant of the EliteBook X G2i that sacrifices features for a lighter weight of 999 grams. HP hasn’t specified Panther Lake by name, simply stating both laptops use a ‘next-gen Intel Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7’ processors from Intel. They are available in vPro and non-vPro models.
The HP EliteBook X G2i and EliteBook X Flip G2i support up to 64 GB of LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. Alternatively, one can opt for 32/64 GB of faster LPDDR5x-9600 memory. On the other hand, the G2i lightweight is limited to 24 GB LPDDR5x-8533. I/O includes two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, one USB Type-C port with DP and power delivery, one 5 Gbps USB-A port, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. For wireless connectivity, Wi-Fi 7 is supported, along with Bluetooth 6 and an optional 5G modem. Interestingly, the G2i lightweight cannot be configured with said 5G modem.
By default, the EliteBook X G2i and EliteBook X Flip G2i come with a 56 Wh battery. Users seeking additional capacity can opt for a 68 Wh cell. However, that option is not available for the EliteBook X Flip G2i lightweight. Similarly, it is limited to a 65 Watt USB Type-C power adapter, while the other two versions can optionally upgrade to a 100 Watt brick. Lastly, all three SKUs come with a 5 MP webcam.
HP offers a dizzying amount of screen configurations for the EliteBook X G2i and EliteBook X Flip G2i. They include a mix of LCD, WLED, OLED, and tandem OLED panels in WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) and 3K (2,880 x 1,800) variants. Some OLED and tandem OLED panels offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz with VRR. All panels on the X Flip G2i are touch-enabled, and interested users can also get it on the regular X G2i. The EliteBook X G2i lightweight, on the other hand, is limited to a 3K, 120 Hz OLED panel with 500 nits peak brightness and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage.
