HP has shown off the EliteBook X G2q and EliteBook X G2a at CES 2026. The former comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite CPUs and the latter with AMD Ryzen AI Pro 400 Gorgon Point silicon. Both laptops hit shelves in Spring 2026.

HP has shown off a bunch of new EliteBook-branded laptops for enterprises and small businesses. The EliteBook X G2q and EliteBook X G2x offer added security features offered by AMD’s Ryzen Pro and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X platforms, along with an optional 5G modem for uninterrupted connectivity. As their names tacitly imply, the G2q is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Elite silicon, while the G2a uses AMD’s newest Ryzen AI Pro 400 Gorgon Point CPUs.

The EliteBook X G2q and EliteBook X G2x come with a 14-inch screen and a variety of configurations, including a WUXGA (1920 x 1200) OLED panel with 300 nits peak brightness and 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. Alternatively, it can be configured with an LCD panel with 400 nits brightness and 100% sRGB gamut coverage.

Those looking for touchscreen functionality can pick between a 500-nit and an 800-nit panel with the same resolution. Lastly, a 3K (2880 x 1800) OLED version is also offered with a 120 Hz refresh rate, variable-refresh-rate (VRR) functionality, and a peak brightness of 500 nits. A tandem OLED panel with the same specs and 700 nits brightness is also available.

EliteBook X G2q specifications

One can configure the EliteBook X G2q with a Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-88-100 with 18 CPU cores, a Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-80-100 with 12 CPU cores, or an unspecified Snapdragon X Plus SKU with 6 CPU cores. All three come with an Adreno iGPU and support up to 64 GB of LPDDR5x-9600 RAM and a 2 TB PCIe Gen4/Gen5 NVMe SSD.

EliteBook X G2a specifications

Moving on to the EliteBook X G2a, HP offers four CPU choices: AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 470, Ryzen AI 7 Pro 450, Ryzen AI 5 Pro 440, and Ryzen AI 5 435. Once again, dGPUs are not supported, and users have to make do with the Radeon iGPU. All configurations support up to 64 GB of DDR5-8533 RAM. However, the Ryzen AI 5 435 model with 64 GB RAM downgrades the speed to 8,000 MT/s. Storage support maxes out at a 2 TB PCIe Gen4/Gen5 NVMe SSD.

The EliteBook X G2q and EliteBook X G2x each come with a 56 Wh battery, which can be upgraded to 68 Wh if necessary. By default, one gets a 65 Watt charger out of the box, which can be swapped for a 100 Watt brick. I/O on both models is nearly identical: one 10 Gbps USB-C port with power delivery and DisplayPort, one 5 Gbps USB-A port, one HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. However, the G2q offers one USB 4.0 port while the G2a is said to come with two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, making it one of the first AMD laptops to support the Thunderbolt standard.

Other specs include a 5 MP camera, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 7. It is worth noting that the EliteBook X G2q uses a FastConnect 7800 Wi-Fi 7 radio from Qualcomm, while the EliteBook G2a uses the MT7925 adapter from MediaTek. Both laptops are available in Glacial Silver and Atmospheric Blue colourways and can be purchased in Spring 2026, and HP will reveal their prices closer to launch.
