Archive.org versionToday we're looking at the latest version of a long line of 15.6" HP Pavilion laptops. This Pavilion has no surprises in store. It offers a standard user experience for a mid-range laptop, but has such a disastrous display that it drags everything else down with it.

Model:
The HP Pavilion 15 series certainly brings about some great laptops and the HP Pavilion 15-n029sr is just one of the many. The Pavilion 15-n020tx comes with an Intel Core i5 4200U, which is quite a decent processor for laptops, but not one of the greatest. This Haswell-based dual core processor can clock up to 2.6 GHz with turbo boost on and is equipped with a dual channel DDR3 memory. The best thing about this graphics card is probably that it comes paired with an Intel HD Graphics 4400, which offers great graphics.
Aside from the built-in graphics card, this laptop also comes with the Nvidia GeForce GT 740M, which is a rather average graphics card of the series, but is still a rather decent graphics card when compared to the market. It is built upon the Kepler architecture and gives better than average graphics for gamers. The screen of the laptop however, does not fully make use of its graphical capabilities. Measuring 15.6 inches, the display only comes with a 1366 by 768 pixel dimension. Although it is lighter compared to laptops of this screen size (the HP Pavilion 15-n029sr only weighs 2.4 kg), the lack of screen clarity is certainly something that may be a deal breaker.
All in all, the HP Pavilion 15-n029sr is a laptop that will do very well for normal use but might fail to produce satisfying results when faced with higher graphical requirement tasks.
